If you want to make a statement this year you must stand out from the crowd. Today’s designers must dazzle you this year and really tempt you to spend your hard earned cash.

This is really not good news for those boring, dull designs, but really good news for designs with embellishments, bold prints and vibrant colours.

That is why I am going to showcase one of the most interesting autumn/winter 2013 collections on London Fashion Week catwalk this year, from a designer who understands embellishments, prints and how ladies want to look today.

L’Wren Scott  is a much sought after designer already familiar with dressing some of the world’s most photographed women.

Her debut show at LFW, “Allegory of Love” was held at the Royal Institute of Engineers with it ornate decor and high ceilings, giving a fabulous backdrop for any runway.  Rather than the rows of chairs along the runway, four long farm house tables were set for dinner and dressed with the most beautiful pale pink roses. L’Wren Scott’s 80 guests were treated to a feast of delicious shepherd’s pie while watching a fabulous array of versatile, classic designs, each piece having a timeless style, detailed tailoring, wonderful gold embellishments, and excessive gilded accessories.

With Bobbi Brown backstage providing all the gorgeous make-up trends to compliment the collection, L’Wren’s debut show was full of  bold colours, intense prints, and detailed embroidery. Feminine and glamorous styles mixed with a splash of rock and roll created a cocktail of pure success. Plus with L’Wren Scott being Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, the Rolling Stones were happy to be a support act this time.

One of my favourite collections from L’Wren Scott  is the Yorkshire Pudding SS13, which was inspired when L’Wren saw an exhibition by Yorkshire’s very own David Hockney “A bigger picture”, where he showed how he took some small black and white sketches of Yorkshire landscapes, and used them to produce larger scale bold coloured landscapes.  Yorkshire Pudding SS13 collection was very similar following the same path, from black & white designs into vibrant colours, with a dusting of gold.

L’Wren’s collection of  classical styles are suitable for any occasion, from a smart lunch, or important meeting to a red carpet dinner, with styles to suit most body types, giving a flattering look to boost confidence. You will find more and more of these classical styles emulated on the high street, watch out for the gold collar and cuffs, plus gold accessories this autumn on your high street.
