6 Tips for Hosting A Baby Shower

Baby shower

My cousin’s daughter was having her first baby, so we decided to all get together for a baby shower. My cousin’s house was chosen as the venue as it would comfortably fit in the number of guests.  Tip Number 1 – Choose the correct size venue.

It was a fabulous fun afternoon with lots of games and chatter.  The invite came via text, as it was mostly for close friends and family and it worked as we all arrived on time armed with presents. Tip Number 2 – Simple invites, even an email or text works.

One of the popular presents for a baby shower at the moment is a nappy cake, which is easy to do, and you can find lots of instructions on the internet. Tip Number 3 – A homemade present is much more personal, from a knitted cardigan to a nappy cake.

The food was buffet style, rather than a formal meal, with lots of tea, coffee, soft drinks and wine for those not driving.  Tip Number 4 – Buffet style dinning makes it more informal and easier to mingle.

We were already aware that the baby was going to be a little girl, so the theme was very pink, from pink jelly beans, pink baby bottle, pink napkins to pink strawberry cupcakes which were delicious.  Pink balloons were attached to pink dummies and displayed inside and out to add some simple baby decor.

Tip Number 5 – Don’t make choosing a theme a big issue. From a single colour to a more elaborate baby shower theme, such as a Mad Hatters Tea Party, remember whatever you choose it is all about getting together and having fun.

The main element was the party games, starting with guess the flavours of the jars of baby food, then whose child belongs to which famous person, guess the number of jelly bean in a baby’s bottle, whose birthday is nearest to the predicted birth date, plus a sweepstake for the weight and date the baby will be born. Tip Number 6 – I suggest you play a few games as it encourages guests to relax and chat, plus they are fun.

Mollie is now with us, a beautiful little girl, that everyone just loves to bits.  So we are all looking for our next excuse to get together.  Remember time with family and friends is always well spent.
