Essentials for Your Spring Wardrobe

Spring Wardrobe

This spring we can inject new life into our spring wardrobe by adding a few select pieces from the latest fashion trends.   With winter often being a busy time your wardrobe may seem a little neglected.

First, start by sorting out and cleaning your wardrobe and getting it organised. With  spring  just around the corner, and bringing an air of  new life  I think choosing a few new items of affordable luxury will freshen up any old favourites ,or as I like to think of them as my old friends that I cannot bare to be parted from.

To master a more  laid-back look I think adding a staple but stylish jumper is key like this asymmetric, long sleeved jumper from M&S. The  soft silver shade will  match in with most things.

Layering is a great look for spring and this jumper will easily slip over a well designed T’shirt, like this soft cotton scooped neck top in white from John Lewis. It is perfect for everyday wear, with short sleeves and a slim, relaxed fit on the figure, plus I feel every wardrobe should have one in its collection, as you can wear it with everything including your favourite jeans.

To add an extra dimension and a bit of individuality to your wardrobe, accessories are key, bold jewels, detailed scarves, and stylish shoes, boots and bags.

Add a touch of glamour with this silver clustered beaded and dimante designed stretch bracelet, from the exclusive range of designer jewellery at Debenhams. This bracelet is part or the No.1 collection from Jenny Packham. For a more dainty design,  look no further than this Y shaped necklace  of  navy blue glitter epoxy flowers with blue rhinestone details on a rhodium finish, available from Bhs.

I just love this neat little star printed lightweight scarf in a fine woven soft wool, It is a  perfect addition for a jumper or coat and is available from The White Company in a natural colour with tiny midnight blue stars.

Mr Armani believes a wardrobe needs one of three handbags: a summer canvase; leather winter, and a clutch. For me this season the bowling bag seems to be trending as the leather winter. I find this timeless, vintage style, Hepburn inspired bowling handbag from Aspinal of London with its  classical structure, can esasily be adapted from smart day to glamours evening creating, the perfect look. Handmade in luxurious calf leather and lined with shimmering cream grosgrain, it is large enough to carry more than just your everyday essentials, yet not oversized.  It incorporates all the features you need from a cute key and lock charm, a sturdy leather straps, a gold zip fastening and an inside pocket for quick and easy access. Team it up with these great black Augustine knee-high leather boots from the Ugg collection. These flat Augustine boots feature a smooth leather finish for a sophisticated look. The lace up detail running down the back adds a luxe appeal – tuck your skinny jeans in the top and throw on a lovely knit for sleek but cosy style.

I believe a pair of  jeans are just perfect for a causual day and are a season to season wardrobe essential. Choose the prefect cut jeans that suit your body shape and are comfortable rather than the latest trend.  I find  John Lewis has lots of choice in jeans and different fits to suit all shapes and sizes.

Spring weather is unpredictable, so a coat is often required and I think my choice for spring is this  Alexis Boucle Oversized Coat where elegance meets functionality; it is just drop dead gorgeous. It is fully lined, straight cut, cover-up boasts a textured, boucle weave, with deep pockets and a collar which can be worn up for a funnel style. In the fashion spotlight for me this spring to glam up my wardrobe is this elegant dress in navy blue  from the M&S Collection. It is in a very flattering style, especially with the help of the Secret Support™ technology, that works like magic to shape your figure making you look instantly slimmer.  It is better than the 5 2 diet, I am trying to do. Plus it is stylish enough to go from day through to evening.

Whatever the weather, the sun does often peep out at some point so to complete the look these  Large blue square smokey acetate sunglasses from the Alexander McQueen collection are a true statement piece. With their slightly winged shape and shaded metallic finish, Alexander McQueen’s smokey sunglasses are a typically fashion-forward choice from the great British brand. This squared-off shape is super-flattering and will look chic anywhere, poolside or city, plus every girl likes a little bit of subtle  branding.

You just need to ensure a little harmony with your current wardrobe when adding a few new items. Enjoy your updating your wardrobe this spring!
