The spirit of the circus is a combination of vivid colours, attractive decor and fabulous entertainment with lots of fun and excitement, for adults and  children. A circus party is easy to create with a little imagination.

Roll up, roll up!  Come along to the circus for a fabulous time of laughter and make believe, with clowns, acrobats, trapeze artists, jugglers, musicians, animals, tightrope walkers, and unicycles all there to entertain you and your guests. Lose a few hours in a world of make believe where men can dress up as clowns and ladies as lion tamers.

Bunting invitations

First you need invitations to reflect the party theme. You can create simple invites from paper bunting, each flag giving party details, attach an admission ticket for each invited guest.

Clown

A cost effective way to decorate the circus party space is to hang balloons, bunting, and streamers. Circus party posters of clowns, statues of clowns and circus animals are also great embellishments and can be hired in or homemade, plus they make fabulous backgrounds for guest photos.

The circus party posters can be personalised, for example, add lines like Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth By .....................; or Roll up, Roll up Ladies and Gentlemen and Children of All Ages to ....................... Circus Party, just add your name where the dots are.

Ceiling decor

To dress the ceiling use  brightly coloured ribbon or material, starting from a central point in the middle of the ceiling and go out to the side to make a big top tent appearance. Several colourful balloons tied together with ribbon make fabulous table centrepieces, add party poppers, paper horns and clown noses for extra decor. Strings of fairy lights can be used for mood lighting. One great circus party idea is to decorate the party room with lots of stuffed animals, if they are circus related all the better, attach a balloon and place a party hat on each animal.

For entertainment hire in some circus mirrors.

Ideal seating is in a circus ring, with several food stations or activity stations around the edge, use a simple sign on each station to identify the activity, for example popcorn, hot dogs, burgers, fries, sweets, face painting and candy floss.

popcorn

Healthy belly filler popcorn in bright coloured boxes is a great  way to bring in the party colour scheme.

Finally get a friend to be the ringmaster to announce activities to your guests.

Let the circus fun begin and let the spirit of the circus bring out the child in you.
